The last two days we were at Theater de Purmaryn in Purmerend (north of Amsterdam) to upgrade the SIAP system to the latest SIAP Mark V system. Very nice to be there again, such a cosy theater with its 550 seats.
Theatre De Purmaryn was the first SIAP customer, back in 1989(!) At the time when the Theatre was being built, they flew with us to the UK where the first demonstration system was installed in the Beck Theatre Theatre in Hayes, Middlesex (London Area).
After this successful demonstration this theatre immediately wanted to have this system. Already 33 years ago! Such a nice history and a special venue for us.
Thanks to @Bert Huiberts and @Leon van Wijk for their enthusiasm for the system after commissioning. The hall is now again equipped with the latest variable electronic acoustics and technological highlights.
It was a special and great experience, the last May week in Mumbai, India. After our initial contact with the new prestigious Dhirubai Ambani International Convention and Exhibition Centre (DAICEC), now called Jio World Centre (1 billion $ construction cost!), in Mumbai (2018) we finally went there to tune our SIAP system. This week was special.
This project includes a convention and exhibition centre, cultural square, apartments, a luxury shopping mall, an office building, and a very luxurious theatre / auditorium, based on the design of the Dolby theatre in Hollywood. The hall has a capacity of 2,000 seats and is used for a wide range of performances, both western/international and Indian: live performances (theatre), amplified and unamplified concerts, cinema, and congress purposes….

SIAP installs new MkV system in the renovated MAPO Art Center, Seoul South-Korea (LinkedIn article). The partnership with ANK and Blackstone Records appeared to make a very successful team with us from SIAP. You guys did an impressive and excellent job! With immersive sound, from Theater Ambiance (in conjunction with the Front-of-House reinforcement system), to variable acoustics (from jazz piano club to opera house and from concert hall acoustics even upwards to a real cathedral) and with movie surround (Dolby 5.1 / 7.1 / 9.1 support and Atmos compatibility) this MAPO Art Center has become ‘soundwise’ multipurpose.
The system is Dante Audio based, which therefore becomes an “open” system as well. Easily connect with other equipment or (effect) processors to get even more versatile. The sound is amazingly natural: we have used Focal speakers with an excellent smooth frequency response and wide dispersion. Together with the natural acoustic of the theatre itself, the SIAP system gives a very compelling, warm, and spacious sound. Musicians that have performed on Mapo’s stage, highly appraise the SIAP acoustics. Needless to say, that this theatre will from now on be a SIAP demonstration venue as well.
Seminars will be organized to explain more about the system’s achievements and features. Of course, we are looking forward to our next projects in South-Korea.
Thanks in part to the fantastic efforts of our partner Blackstone Records, MAPO Art Center has selected SIAP for the variable room acoustics. This beautiful performing art centre counts 1024 seats and has a natural reverberation time of approximately 1.0 second. With SIAP they can turn their acoustics into any desired space. Varying from subtle small enhancements to large immersive experiences. Again, the SIAP system will be integrated seamlessly with the other (PA) equipment with and without Dante.
DeLaMar, a main Theatre of Amsterdam decided to purchase the newly developed SIAP Mark V processor for their beautifull hall. The Theatre already had the SIAP predecessor Mark IV since the theatre’s inauguration in 2010 but wanted to upgrade to the new processor for all it’s new abilities and features. The system comprises 152 loudspeakers and SIAP is used for unamplified performances (from 0.7 sec. RT to 4.0 sec. RT), as well as for amplified performances (0.7 sec. RT to 1.0 sec. RT) for ambiance and more ‘liveliness’ of the hall and for surround purposes. Therefore, all kinds of amplified and non-amplified shows and concerts benefit from the installation of the Mk V processor in the existing SIAP system. Dante audio networking is used as well to collaborate with other Dante devices, and they love the iPad and the ducking system that can automatically attenuate the active acoustics for announcements or music played through PA during the performance, when desired. A very versatile system that fully meets the functionalities of today!
The newly built Cultural Center ”Zinder”, located in Tiel (The Netherlands) has selected SIAP to provide the desired variable acoustics in the hall. This multipurpose ‘pop hall’ has a 120 seat retractable bleacher seating and will be used for small theatre and musical performances, as well as rehearsals by music school pupils and their teachers. SIAP has won the tender for prestigious DAICEC (Dhirubai Ambani International Convention and Exhibition Center) in Mumbai, India.
This project, developed by Reliance Industries Limited and won by main contractor Samsung C & T is in full swing and is expected to be completed Spring next year. This project includes a congress and exhibition center, cultural square, apartments, an office building and a very luxurious theatre / auditorium, based on the design of the Dolby theatre in Hollywood. The hall has a capacity of 2,000 seats and is used multifunctional: live performances (theater), amplified and unamplified concerts, cinema and congress purposes. This project involves a total investment of more than $ 678 million.
SIAP will deploy the latest Mark V-64 / Dante processor which, together with the Dolby Atmos system, will provide the room with all possible acoustic wishes that are conceivable. The design comprises almost 160 loudspeakers and all microphones will be brought to the correct positions via automated electronic cable reelers, depending on the usage situation. This way there are no microphones in sight and / or projection lines during film performances.

Integrating a SIAP system
1. FAMILIARIZE
A meeting, visit of the venue, drawings (if exist) and needs will give us enough information to make a proposal and preliminary quotation.
2. SYSTEM DESIGN
Based on drawings and a visit we’ll make a design that comprises that right amount of equipment for perfect acoustics.
3. IMPLEMENTATION
The installation company place and install the microphones, speakers, cables, amplifiers, racks and connect it to the SIAP processor.
4. TUNING
The SIAP system will be tuned in three to four consecutive days by specialists of SIAP. All presets will be created and all measurements will be done.
5. COMMISSIONING
For fine tuning, (subjective adjustment), it is preferable to have one or two extra days with “live” music on stage. We won’t leave until everybody is happy.
